Ingredients driving the next wave

21 Jun 2026

The professional haircare category is also becoming increasingly science-led.

Consumers are looking for formulations that offer measurable results and clear efficacy claims, driving interest in advanced active ingredients and treatment technologies.

Bond-building complexes remain a major focus, alongside peptides, amino acids, ceramides and keratin-inspired technologies designed to strengthen damaged hair fibres.

At the same time, skincare ingredients are increasingly crossing into haircare formulations. Niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, salicylic acid and microbiome-supporting actives are gaining traction as brands seek to address scalp health through more sophisticated treatment approaches.

Botanical ingredients also remain important, particularly when supported by scientific validation. Rosemary oil, argan oil, honey-derived ingredients and other naturally sourced actives continue to attract consumer attention, especially when positioned within clinically informed formulations.

The result is a category that increasingly combines biotechnology, dermatological science and professional expertise.
